Job summary

Hillsboro Aviation in Hillsboro, Oregon, is seeking an Avionics Manager to lead the avionics department within our FAA Part 145 repair station. You will manage projects across service center and fleet operations, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while delivering on-time aircraft support.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of avionics experience, proven team leadership, and budget management, with a strong knowledge of FAA rules and OEM relationships.

Qualifications

• FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License.
• 10+ years of avionics installation and repair experience.
• Ability to evaluate, quote, and execute complex avionics projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing a team and a departmental budget.
• Experience building and developing high-performing teams.
• Working knowledge of FAA regulations and Part 145 Repair Station operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily avionics operations ensuring FAA regulations, AS9110 standards, and company policies.
• Own the quoting, customer communication, and delivery process for avionics projects, from initial scope through final delivery.
• Lead troubleshooting and repair of customer and fleet aircraft during AOG situations.
• Manage the avionics budget performance, monitoring labor and parts margins and controlling costs.
• Lead, coach, and develop the avionics team, setting clear and measurable expectations.
• Plan capacity and manage scheduling to maximize hangar and technician utilization and meet delivery dates.
• Partner with the Service Center Manager to grow the avionics business and promote Hillsboro Aviation.
• Maintain and develop relationships with customers, vendors, and OEMs.
• Monitor KPIs for the avionics division, including revenue, margin, labor utilization, on-time delivery, quality, and safety.
• Champion a strong safety culture and support SMS practices.
