Job summary

Relativity Space is seeking a Staff Avionics Mechanical Engineer to own the design, development, and delivery of mechanical hardware for next-generation space science avionics platforms. You will oversee enclosures, mounting structures, thermal accommodations, and interfaces to spacecraft systems.

This hands-on role demands strong CAD skills, lab-style testing, rapid iteration from first principles, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver flight-ready systems on a fast-paced schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years in mechanical design, packaging, or thermal management for aerospace or ruggedized electronics.
  • Proven ability to deliver mechanical systems from concept through qualification and flight.
  • Proficiency with CAD and analysis tools for structural and thermal performance.
  • Hands-on experience building, testing, and debugging hardware in a lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, development, and delivery of all mechanical hardware for next-generation space science avionics platforms.
  • Ensure mechanical systems survive launch and space environments; solve thermal and structural challenges in compact packaging.
  • Perform analysis and testing; lead delivery of flight-ready avionics mechanical systems.
