Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior avionics-focused engineer to oversee end-to-end development of spacecraft avionics, including requirements, design integration, and operations support. The role emphasizes managing complex stakeholder relationships and coordinating across multiple disciplines to ensure mission-critical outcomes.

You will lead architecture studies, define interfaces, and drive risk and change management while collaborating in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in a relevant engineering or technical field.
• 8+ years in full life cycle avionics development (requirements, design, integration, test, operations).
• Deep experience integrating spacecraft subsystems — Avionics, Software, Structures, GNC, power.
• Ability to define and manage communication protocols.
• Understanding of electrical digital/analog interfaces (Serial Bus, Ethernet, etc.).
• Strong systems engineering practices and mission/safety critical systems knowledge.
• Proficient with MS Excel and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Act as the negotiator between stakeholders to optimize spacecraft design.
• Lead avionics architecture studies, concept development, verification planning, vehicle integration, and operations support.
• Manage avionics requirements development, definition, and maturity.
• Develop and manage ICDs for avionic systems and interfaces.
• Develop and maintain data/communication budgets and integrated electrical architecture diagrams.
• Coordinate constraints and conflicting requirements across disciplines.
• Contribute to change management with impact assessment and cross-subsystem coordination.
• Coordinate sensor selection and end-to-end sensor error analysis.
• Identify, assess, and manage program risks (technical, schedule, cost, integration).
• Develop tools for maintaining vehicle electrical configuration and definition.
