Job summary

Castelion is hiring Avionics Hardware Engineers to specialize in board‑level design, bring‑up, and testing across our avionics organization. This role focuses on schematic and PCB design, board bring‑up, and lab testing, with opportunities to grow into deeper avionics specialization.

Responsibilities include designing and validating hardware, performing lab debugging, testing reference boards, and documenting results. Strong EE fundamentals and hands‑on ownership are essential.

Avionics Hardware Engineer

We are hiring Avionics Hardware Engineers to specialize in board‑level design, bring‑up, and testing across our avionics organization. This role is ideal for engineers with solid EE fundamentals who want hands‑on ownership of real flight hardware. Engineers in this role focus on schematic and PCB design, board bring‑up, and lab testing, and will grow into deeper avionics specialization over time.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop board‑level electrical hardware including schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection
  • Perform board bring‑up, validation, and debugging in the lab
  • Test reference boards and early prototypes using standard lab equipment
  • Support troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of hardware issues
  • Work with avionics, test, and manufacturing teams to iterate designs quickly
  • Document designs, test results, and engineering changes clearly
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Experience with PCB design tools (Altium preferred)
  • Hands‑on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power supplies
  • Strong understanding of core EE principles such as analog/digital circuits, power, signal integrity basics
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience taking a PCB from concept through bring‑up and test
  • Exposure to embedded systems or firmware interaction
  • Familiarity with aerospace, automotive, robotics, or other high‑reliability hardware
  • Basic scripting or programming experience (Python, C/C++)

Successfully bring in applicable processes/concepts/materials from other industries to achieve efficiency gains. The ability to personally resolve minor issues in development without requiring significant support.

Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere. Strong sense of accountability and integrity.
  • Clear Communicator. Proactively communicates blockers. Trusted in previous roles to be voice of company with regulators, suppliers, gate keepers and customers. Capable of tactfully managing relationships with stakeholders to achieve company-desired outcomes without compromising relationships. Emails, IMs and verbal interactions are logical, drive clarity, and detailed enough to eliminate ambiguity.
