Job summary

Zipline in the United States is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Validation Engineer to lead validation for avionics components including the flight computer and peripherals. You will design validation strategies and run scenarios from simulation to flight testing, building automated validation infrastructure and documenting findings.

You will collaborate with test infrastructure teams to ensure safety, reliability, and rapid development velocity, with strong emphasis on Embedded Linux,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development, software systems engineering, or software validation experience with robotic systems.
• Experience with Embedded Linux, PREEMPT_RT, firmware/RTOS, safety-critical systems.
• Proficiency in Rust or C/C++, and Python or SQL.

Responsibilities

• Develop component-level validation strategy for software correctness, reliability, and performance on an Embedded Linux node.
• Design, implement, and execute nominal, stress, and edge-case scenarios from simulation through full-system flight testing.
• Develop and maintain hardware test infrastructure to meet objectives.
• Create metrics, visualizations, and automated tools to reveal capability changes and regressions.
• Set validation exit criteria to inform release decisions.
• Debug failures across simulation, hardware, firmware, and software; document findings and escalate risks.
• Collaborate with test infra teams to increase automated validation coverage and speed.
