Job summary

The Principal Oversight Inspector (POI) role oversees FAA field safety programs under 14 CFR, applying aviation safety knowledge to develop and implement standards and procedures for general aviation operations safety.

As the primary contact with air carriers and aviation organizations, you will issue certificates, monitor compliance, and guide field ASIs, while planning work programs with substantial independence and coordinating with FAA policy makers to address evolving safety challenges.

Qualifications

• Primary oversight interface between assigned air carriers, air operators, air agencies, airmen, designees, and the FAA.
• Issues certificates and monitors organizations for compliance with 14 CFR.
• Plans and directs a work program with substantial technical independence.
• Applies mastery of aviation safety principles and regulatory intent.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct assignments with technical independence and monitor organizations’ activities.
• Evaluate and decide on issuance of original certificates for complex or multiple organizations.
• Provide guidance to field staff to resolve difficult technical issues.
• Coordinate with management and policy makers on new aviation safety programs.
