ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a Senior Aviation Environmental Planner with proven experience in airport projects to join our Aviation team!

Hybrid Work Opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic Region!

We’re looking for a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative Senior Aviation Environmental Planner to support projects across the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and New England regions. With hybrid options available in Raleigh, NC; Richmond, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; and Washington, DC, this role offers flexibility and a chance to work with a nationally recognized company.

Responsibilities

1. Project management for complex airport planning studies
2. Research, analysis, and creation of airport environmental and planning documents including but not limited to:
1. NEPA environmental filings
2. Airport master planning and airport layout plans (ALPs)
3. Airport electrification
4. Sustainability, resiliency, and climate change
5. Technical analyses of environmental conditions such as noise, air quality, stormwater, remediation, etc.
6. Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and eVTOL
3. Assist the Corporate Aviation Market Leader and Regional Managers with business development and provide technical expertise
4. Maintain and grow current client relationships
5. Support business development and new client acquisitions
6. Perform project reviews and quality control audits for deliverables
7. Supervise and mentor team members with minimal supervision

Skills & Knowledge

1. Five or more years of experience in Project Management and contracting (scope and fee development) for aviation projects
2. Experience with monitoring scope, schedule, and budget for contracts
3. Ability to coordinate with other VHB service lines to position for projects at key airports to grow the practice and increase revenue
4. Experience working with FAA and Federal/State/local regulatory agencies
5. Aviation-related professional certifications preferred
6. Demonstrable experience with business development and proposal writing
7. Ability to deliver technical innovation and bring extraordinary value to our aviation clients
8. Active in the aviation industry as a thought leader and involved in service organizations
9. Participate actively in developing aviation business opportunities throughout the corporate footprint
10. Experience mentoring aviation planning and environmental staff

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university
2. Master’s degree preferred
3. 11+ years of experience in aviation-related planning or environmental projects required
4. Supervisory experience preferred

Our estimated salary range for this position in Washington, DC is $125,000 to $175,000, based on various factors including experience, skills, and location. VHB offers a comprehensive benefits package which can be found here.
