Job summary

General Motors is seeking a senior specialist in autonomous driving evaluation to join the Evaluation team. You will develop metrics, dashboards, and analyses to quantify AV performance across simulations and real-world tests, partnering with autonomy, simulation, systems, and safety teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in robotics or autonomous systems, strong Python/C++ skills, and experience with ML evaluation, time-series analysis, and data visualization.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of robotics or autonomous systems software experience.
  • 3+ years evaluating dynamic systems using time-series data.
  • Strong Python development in production environments, incl. testing and code review.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement metrics to introspect autonomous driving performance across the autonomy stack.
  • Design analysis algorithms to summarize, aggregate, and cluster metrics from simulations and on-road runs.
  • Propose and develop new statistical and ML methods to quantify performance across scenes and domains.
  • Evaluate perception, prediction, and planning models in the autonomy stack.
  • Build and maintain autonomous evaluation dashboards and interactive reports.
  • Leverage vision-language models and large language models to classify autonomy performance and prioritize validation.
  • Maintain high technical standards through design reviews, testing, observability and best practices.
  • Interface with cross-organizational partners to articulate requirements and share best practices.
