Job summary

Pittsburgh Robotics Network seeks a Principal Engineer Team Lead for AV Behavior in a hybrid/remote US setup. You will steer system behavior design, performance metrics, and testing strategies for a driverless robotaxi program.

You’ll mentor a growing team and collaborate with autonomy, infrastructure, and operations to ensure safety and reliability. The role requires deep expertise in autonomous systems, data-driven evaluation, and strong communication skills to align stakeholders and drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field with 5+ years of experience
• Experience leading and scaling data-driven evaluation programs for autonomous driving or safety-critical tech
• Strong track record in decomposing complex requirements into actionable system behaviors
• Proven ability to leverage large-scale simulation and real-world data for insights
• Excellent communication and leadership across multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Design system behavior by decomposing ODD requirements into vehicle capabilities and interfaces
• Translate policy narratives into measurable, testable requirements for autonomy teams
• Define metrics, evaluation plans, and testing campaigns across simulation, tracks, and on-road data
• Mentor and scale a high-performing engineering team while fostering technical excellence
• Collaborate across Autonomy, Infrastructure, and Operations to improve system safety and performance
• Drive data exploration to understand problems and drive resolution with development teams
• Incorporate cutting-edge methods and traditional metrics to push performance evaluation forward
