About the Role

Our client, a prestigious automotive manufacturer with a significant presence in East London , is seeking a visionary Senior Automotive Interior Design Engineer . This role demands a blend of creative flair and technical expertise to shape the interior aesthetics and ergonomics of future vehicle models. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and refining interior design elements, ensuring they meet high standards of quality, functionality, and user experience. Key Responsibilities

Lead the conceptualization and development of automotive interior designs, including dashboard, seating, trim, lighting, and user interfaces. Translate design briefs and market trends into compelling and innovative interior design proposals. Create high-quality 2D sketches, 3D renderings, and digital models using industry-standard design software. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability, and compliance with safety regulations. Develop detailed design specifications and Bill of Materials (BOM) for interior components. Present design concepts and progress updates to internal stakeholders and management. Stay abreast of emerging materials, technologies, and trends in automotive interior design. Oversee the development and prototyping of interior design elements, providing guidance to suppliers and manufacturing partners. Contribute to defining the brand's interior design language and ensuring consistency across vehicle lines. Mentor junior designers, fostering a creative and collaborative team environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive interior design, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects. Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering software such as CATIA V5/V6, Alias, Blender, or similar. Strong understanding of ergonomics, human factors, and user experience principles in vehicle interiors. Knowledge of automotive materials, manufacturing processes, and interior component integration. Excellent visual communication and presentation skills. Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into design solutions. Familiarity with Class-A surfacing is highly desirable. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, essential for a hybrid work environment. A keen eye for detail, aesthetics, and contemporary design trends.
