About the Role

Our client, a highly respected automotive service center, is seeking a Senior Automotive Electrician & Diagnostics Technician to join their state-of-the-art facility in Randburg, Gauteng . This role is critical for diagnosing and repairing complex electrical and electronic systems in a wide range of vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of automotive electrical principles, advanced diagnostic tools, and a passion for problem-solving. You will be responsible for identifying faults, performing intricate repairs, and ensuring the optimal performance and safety of vehicles. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, excellent technical skills, and the ability to stay current with evolving automotive technologies. You will be a key member of a skilled team dedicated to providing exceptional service to our clientele in Randburg and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair complex electrical and electronic faults in modern vehicles, including engine management systems, ABS, airbags, and infotainment systems. Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment and software to identify root causes of electrical issues. Perform electrical component testing, troubleshooting, and replacement . Interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical bulletins accurately. Conduct comprehensive electrical system checks and preventative maintenance. Install and troubleshoot automotive aftermarket electronics such as audio systems, alarms, and GPS trackers. Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained. Adhere to all safety procedures and workshop protocols . Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding repair findings and recommendations. Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive electrical and diagnostic technologies.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Automotive Electrician or Diagnostics Technician . Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex automotive electrical systems . Proficiency with modern diagnostic scan tools (e.g., Snap-on, Autel, dealer-specific tools). Strong understanding of vehicle communication networks (CAN bus, LIN bus). Ability to read and interpret automotive wiring diagrams . Relevant trade qualification or certification (e.g., NQF Level 4 in Automotive Electrical/Electronics). Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking. Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Good communication and interpersonal skills. A valid driver's license.
