Job summary

Engtal is seeking a Conveyor Controls Project Engineering Manager in Dearborn, MI to lead controls projects from pre-bid through closeout. You will manage PLC, HMI, networks and safety on automotive conveyor and material handling projects, serving as the main technical contact for customers and teams.

You’ll review specifications and drawings, coordinate programming and startup, run project meetings, mentor engineers, and support estimating.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; an associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or automation is a plus.
• 8–10+ years in industrial controls, automation, or automotive manufacturing.
• Conveyor background essential; overhead conveyor experience preferred.
• Experience coordinating controls projects with an oversight focus.
• Familiar with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell (Studio 5000/RSLogix, FactoryTalk).
• Capable with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Teams and scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls engineering from estimating through kickoff, design, installation and closeout.
• Oversee PLC, HMI, networks, safety and automation on conveyor projects.
• Serve as technical contact for customers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Review specs, contracts and drawings to flag scope changes and risks.
• Coordinate programming, testing, validation and startup with trades.
• Run project meetings and track schedules, action items and issues.
• Support estimating and sales with technical scope and proposals.
• Mentor controls engineers and promote Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
• Travel to job sites across USA, Canada and Mexico; 50%+ travel; expenses covered.
