Job Summary:

The Senior Automotive Accountant plays a vital role in overseeing the financial health of our dealership. This position requires a solid background in automotive dealership accounting and a strong grasp of industry-specific practices and systems. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial records, and delivering timely, insightful financial reports to support management decision-making.

This role also involves cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring compliance with internal controls, tax regulations, and industry best practices. It's more than just bookkeeping—it demands strategic thinking, precision, and a deep understanding of dealership operations. Experience with Dealertrack is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain the dealership’s general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Closings: Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financials are accurate and completed on time.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. Analyze these reports and provide explanations for variances and trends.
  • Reconciliation: Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data. Investigate discrepancies and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections. Manage relationships with vendors and customers to resolve any billing or payment issues.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure proper accounting for vehicle and parts inventories. Work with the inventory management team to ensure accuracy in stock levels and cost accounting.

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Background Check: As part of our hiring process, we conduct background checks on candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment. This may include a review of criminal records, motor vehicle reports, employment history, sexual offender registries, and other relevant information. Background checks are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, and all candidates will be required to provide written consent before the check is initiated. A previous criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from employment; each case is reviewed individually.

Post-Offer Occupational Health Screenings: As part of the employment process, we’re committed to ensuring a safe, productive, and drug-free work environment. To achieve this goal, all prospective employees are required to undergo a drug screening following a conditional offer of employment.

Equal Opportunity Employer: We're committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, age, genetic information, pregnancy (including childbirth or related medical conditions), or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
