We’re looking for a passionate and curious Senior Automation/PI Engineer – Global MSAT to join our team. The ideal candidate will ensure the platform aligns with organizational objectives , complies with data governance protocols, and provides advanced reporting and analytics capabilities. This is a dynamic, technical role demanding proficiency in process control systems, OT architecture, and AVEVA PI tools, such as PI Asset Framework (AF) and PI Vision.
As a member of the Global MSAT Automation team, this role will oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of the AVEVA PI infrastructure to support OT and process control systems across global operations. The position involves developing innovative solutions to address complex technical challenges, contributing to Just-Evotec’s vision of a cutting-edge, adaptable cGMP manufacturing facility focused on continuous processing. Expertise in process control systems, OT infrastructure, and AVEVA PI tools (including PI AF and PI Vision) is essential. The role also requires familiarity with automation platforms such as DeltaV , Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Wonderware to provide production automation support. Additionally, experience in a GMP environment, change control processes, and automation validation per GAMP5 standards is required .
Travel Requirements & Flexibility:
This position involves periodic travel to our JEB Toulouse facility. Flexibility in work hours is necessary to facilitate effective collaboration with European colleagues across time zones.
What You’ll Do:
Oversee the comprehensive deployment of the AVEVA PI system, encompassing planning, configuration, validation, and rollout across international sites.
Work closely with the France-based team to ensure smooth integration and compliance with local operational needs.
Architect and sustain the PI system framework, utilizing PI AF and PI Vision to meet process control, data management, and visualization requirements.
Lead the continuous development of the AVEVA PI ecosystem by integrating new data sources, use cases, and improvements driven by business needs.
Ensure seamless OT infrastructure integration, maintaining secure and dependable connectivity between PI systems and process control environments.
Implement and uphold data governance and management standards to guarantee data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.
Create and refine reporting and analytics tools using AVEVA PI to deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance and support to global teams, resolving issues and ensuring system reliability and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional groups, including IT, OT, and engineering, to align PI systems with company objectives .
Stay informed on advancements in AVEVA PI, process control technologies, and OT systems to propose innovative solutions.
Partner with diverse teams, including manufacturing, process engineering, data scientists, utility operations, maintenance, quality assurance, and validation, to drive operational enhancements.
Develop and execute validation protocols and test scripts for automation systems.
Lead or support technical root cause analyses, incident investigations, and troubleshooting of process control challenges.
Manage CAPAs and change controls, collaborating with the site Manufacturing Technical Services (MTS) team to implement updates.
Serve as a key member of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, ensuring automation and MES changes are designed and validated for NPI readiness.
Offer technical support to manufacturing sites as needed, focusing on process control and automation systems.
Who You Are:
Education and Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Science or Engineering and 5 or more years of relevant experience; or
Associate’s degree in science-related area and 8 or more years of relevant experience; or
High school diploma or GED and 10 or more years of relevant experience.
Robust background in control system automation, including design, installation, programming, and validation of automated processes.
Knowledge of FDA CFR 21 Part 11 compliance requirements.
Proven track record of completing projects successfully using strong engineering and project management expertise .
Demonstrated proficiency in configuring and coding AVEVA PI systems using PI tools.
Expertise in designing and implementing OT and digital systems.
Prior experience with computer software validation.
Involvement in global teams or Centers of Excellence.
Experience applying GAMP5 risk-based methodologies for validated process automation system changes.
Participation in regulatory inspections or audit support.
Familiarity with single-use technologies and systems.
Experience with automation platforms such as DeltaV , Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Wonderware.
C ertification in AVEVA PI System administration or development.
Knowledge of additional OT or IT systems used in industrial environments (e.g., SCADA, DCS, MES).
Understanding of cybersecurity principles in OT environments .
Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) to enhance PI system capabilities.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $112,560 to $154,100; Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value. Additional total rewards include discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive benefits to include Medical, Dental and Vision, short-term and long-term disability, company paid basic life insurance, 401k company match, flexible work, generous paid time off and paid holiday, wellness and transportation benefits.
