Job summary

Lilly in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer - Automation Engineering to lead automated systems across the Lilly Medicine Foundry project, supporting GMP manufacturing startup from 2025 to 2029.

You will mentor the process control team, shape design standards for DeltaV and Rockwell PLCs, and ensure validated, compliant control applications while collaborating with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum B.S. in Engineering or Science and 8+ years in Automation Engineering, preferably in biopharma.
• Experience in commissioning, qualifying, and supporting analytical and automation-controlled lab equipment.
• Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements and computer system validation.

Responsibilities

• Provide automation support across site operations and capital projects.
• Mentor process control team, including design, controls philosophy, implementation and commissioning.
• Develop and implement the Automation Engineering Project Plan.
• Oversee DCS software design, coding, configuration and testing.
• Maintain validated state of site control systems per Lilly quality standards.
