Requirements
Must have:
- We require a bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related equivalent, or 4 years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience
- We require flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays
- We require at least 4 years of experience in PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis within a process or production environment
- We require at least 4 years of experience with robotics work cells and control systems
- We require at least 4 years of experience using Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys Ladder Logic and structured programming
- We require at least 4 years of experience with electrical theory, robotics, control components, and automated equipment
- We prefer a masters degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related equivalent
- We prefer a masters degree or Six Sigma Black Belt certification
- We prefer experience leading controls in manufacturing or other complex industrial settings
- We prefer experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying motor controls, including motor starters, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components
- We prefer experience interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings
Responsibilities:
- We apply subject matter expertise to troubleshoot engineering issues, conduct deep dives, and support automation engineers in identifying root causes and reducing downtime on critical assets
- We collaborate with Operations, Operations Engineering, FC Start-up, AFT Software, ACES, and Safety teams to optimize material handling systems and deliver project implementations
- We maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC and PC controllers, as well as industrial networks and related motor, servo, frequency drive, and electrical distribution systems
- We monitor material handling equipment metrics, partner with maintenance and operations teams, and analyze system performance across the site
- We provide escalation support to automation engineers during and after business hours, both locally and remotely, to ensure timely repair of hardware and controls software
- We mentor junior engineers, lead cross-functional efforts, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput and operational performance
- We develop system design improvements and support innovative projects that enhance equipment reliability and site efficiency
- We work with conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print-and-apply systems, SCADA devices, and related programs
- We may need to meet physical requirements such as lifting up to 49 lbs, standing and walking for long shifts, climbing ladders and gangways, and performing regular bending, stretching, and reaching
