Requirements
Must have:
- We require a bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related field, or 4 years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience.
- We require 4 years of experience in a process or production environment with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis.
- We require 4 years of experience with robotics work cells and control systems.
- We require 4 years of experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys ladder logic and structured programming.
- We require 4 years of experience with electrical theory, robotics, control components, and automated equipment.
- We require the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- We prefer a masters degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related field.
- We prefer a masters degree or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- We prefer experience leading controls in manufacturing or other complex industrial settings.
- We prefer experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying motor controls such as motor starters, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components.
- We prefer experience interpreting and updating mechanical and electrical drawings.
Responsibilities
- We apply subject matter expertise to troubleshoot engineering issues, perform deep dives, identify root causes, and help reduce downtime of critical assets.
- We collaborate with Operations, Operations Engineering, FC Start-up, AFT Software, ACES, and Safety teams to optimize MHE systems and support project delivery.
- We maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Profibus.
- We monitor MHE performance metrics and partner with maintenance and operations teams to resolve system issues across the site.
- We provide escalation support to automation engineers during and after business hours, both remotely and on-site, to ensure hardware and controls software are repaired promptly.
- We mentor junior engineers and help build team capability through technical leadership.
- We lead cross-functional efforts to implement new projects and improve system designs to increase site throughput.
- We work with technologies such as conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print-and-apply systems, and SCADA devices and programs.
- We must be able to lift up to 49 lbs, stand and walk for up to 12-hour shifts, climb ladders and gangways safely, and perform frequent bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.

This position is based in Erlanger, Kentucky, with an annual base salary range of USD 114,000 to 148,200.
