Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) in Monee, IL seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse equipment. You will lead projects, mentor engineers, and ensure safety and reliability across conveyors, sortation, scanners, and SCADA devices.

Responsibilities include setting goals, guiding maintenance, coordinating with operations, and providing remote support and root-cause analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years automation experience
• 5+ years PLC-controlled automation experience with Ladder Logic and structured programming
• 2+ years with robotics work cells and automated equipment
• Leadership in directing, training, and mentoring automation engineers
• Proficiency in CMMS, troubleshooting, and coordinating maintenance
• Strong communication, policy interpretation, and continuous improvement mindset
• Advanced degree plus 5+ years is preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as site technical expert in automation control systems
• Set program goals, delegate work, and mentor Automation Engineers
• Design, develop, implement, and optimize control systems and software
• Maintain and troubleshoot automation equipment including PLC/PC controllers and networks
• Govern all automation documentation and change management processes
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and support teams to optimize material handling systems
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support including remote assistance and vendor coordination
• Monitor system performance and drive continuous improvement projects
