Magna Exteriors is hiring a Controls & Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement control systems for automated manufacturing processes in our Troy, MI facility. You will program PLCs, integrate robotics, ensure safety, troubleshoot issues, and optimize production across global teams.

The role requires a strong background in automation, cross-functional collaboration, and a drive to adopt Industry 4.0 concepts and data analytics in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Education/Skills/Special Knowledge - University degree related to Manufacturing or Engineering.
• Over 7 years of experience in assembly equipment, secondary equipment controls, and automation.
• Proficiency in PLC and robotics programming, with related hardware knowledge.
• Programming or scripting skills (Python, Java, SCL, or SQL) are a plus.
• Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing is preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during the assembly process.
• Knowledge of assembly solutions, machines, systems and operations (AI vision inspection, AGV/AMRs, Poka Yoke, etc.) is a strong asset.
• Ability to work within cross-functional and cross-regional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Responsabilités

• Function as a development specialist with expertise in PLC control systems design and robotics.
• Lead new development projects focusing on new technology concepts and cost savings.
• Create, execute, and track goals, timing and cost for projects.
• Coordinate with divisions, sales, customers and corporate for manufacturing strategies.
• Assist with selection, installation, and testing of manufacturing equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering, MP&L, IT/OT, and robotics to align models with real-world conditions.
• Troubleshoot complex situations with multiple variables and minimal supervision.
• Document standards and develop global assembly best practices and standards.
