Job summary

RTX's Raytheon Industry 4.0 CFIA team seeks an Automation Systems Engineer to design, develop, implement, and sustain automation solutions across manufacturing. You will work with robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems, integrating with Ignition and business systems.

You will lead projects, collaborate across functions, and grow technically through leadership opportunities while building scalable production automation that improves efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with minimum 8 years of relevant automation experience.
• Alternatively, 5+ years with an advanced STEM engineering degree.
• Ability to obtain Interim Secret U.S. government clearance before start date.
• Experience integrating control systems (actuators, sensors, robotics, and vision).
• PLC and HMI programming experience (Rockwell preferred).
• Robot programming experience (Fanuc preferred).
• Experience managing and delivering medium to complex automation projects.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for automation across assembly, inspection, test, and logistics.
• Document requirements with factory and program stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership to projects with internal teams or suppliers.
• Integrate software (PLCs, robotics, vision system, smart tools, etc) and hardware (sensors, actuators, servos) to create or upgrade solutions.
• Perform system validation testing for acceptance and production prove-in.
• Provide troubleshooting and debug support for production systems.
• Contribute to the overall manufacturing technology strategy for the business.
