Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, AWS, Linux, Python, and Infrastructure as Code to design, develop, and maintain enterprise infrastructure automation solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands‑on experience automating cloud and Linux environments, including infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, patching, security hardening, and lifecycle management.
This role requires a self‑directed senior engineer who can translate technical requirements into scalable automation solutions, independently identify dependencies and potential issues, and drive implementations from design through production. The engineer will work extensively with Ansible Automation Platform, AWS CloudFormation, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Python, Red Hat Satellite, and CI/CD technologies.
This role is expected to be onsite 5 days a week.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise automation using Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
- Develop production‑grade Ansible playbooks, roles, collections, templates, job templates, and workflows for Linux and AWS infrastructure.
- Design and develop AWS CloudFormation templates and stacks to provision and manage AWS infrastructure.
- Develop automation for AWS services and infrastructure, including VPCs, networking, compute, storage, security, and supporting services.
- Integrate Ansible with AWS‑native technologies to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Develop Python scripts and supporting code for infrastructure automation, APIs, integrations, and operational workflows.
- Administer and maintain Ansible Automation Platform, including inventories, credentials, RBAC, organizations, job templates, workflows, execution environments, and Ansible Builder.
- Develop automation supporting Linux provisioning, configuration management, patching, security hardening, authentication, networking, storage, SELinux, and firewall management.
- Administer and integrate Red Hat Satellite with Linux management and automation workflows.
- Support Linux identity and authentication technologies, including Red Hat IdM/FreeIPA.
- Build and customize containerized execution environments and baseline images.
- Develop automated and unit tests for automation code and integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop and support patch‑management automation using technologies such as AWS Systems Manager (SSM).
- Troubleshoot complex automation and infrastructure issues across AWS, Linux, networking, authentication, storage, security, and application dependencies.
- Evaluate technical requirements, identify dependencies, develop appropriate solutions, and drive assignments from conception through production implementation.
- Develop reusable automation frameworks and standards to improve operational consistency, reliability, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, security, development, and operations teams to implement enterprise automation solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant IT experience.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with Ansible, including production‑grade playbooks, roles, collections, templates, and reusable automation.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, including both administration and development.
- Strong AWS engineering experience with the ability to design, provision, configure, and troubleshoot AWS infrastructure.
- Hands‑on experience developing AWS CloudFormation templates and stacks.
- Experience using Ansible or similar automation technologies to provision and manage AWS resources.
- Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure concepts, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, IAM, compute, and storage.
- Strong Linux systems administration and engineering experience, preferably with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Ability to troubleshoot Linux systems at the administrator level, including patching, package management, authentication, networking, storage, SELinux, and firewalls.
- Proficiency with Python for infrastructure automation, scripting, APIs, and integrations.
- Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and unit testing.
- Experience building and maintaining containerized execution environments.
- Experience with Red Hat Satellite and Linux lifecycle and patch management.
- Experience with Linux identity and authentication technologies such as Red Hat IdM/FreeIPA.
- Demonstrated ability to independently own complex technical assignments with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS Systems Manager, including patch‑management capabilities.
- Experience developing automation for STIG implementation, remediation, or compliance validation.
- Experience operating in FIPS‑enabled environments.
- Experience supporting large‑scale enterprise Linux and AWS environments.
- Experience working in federal, regulated, or security‑sensitive environments.
- Relevant certifications in Red Hat, Ansible, Linux, Python, or AWS.
- Experience developing reusable automation frameworks and enterprise infrastructure standards.
- Experience with containerized automation and cloud‑native infrastructure management.
