Job summary

VSO is seeking a Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Consultant for a fully remote role in the USA. You will support a DoD customer with enterprise automation, designing, deploying, and operating AAP and building automation content.

Responsibilities include integrating AAP with CI/CD, source control, secrets management, and identity providers; configuring RBAC and job templates; automating security hardening; and documenting architecture and training staff. Must have TS clearance and U.S.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of professional experience.
• Active Top Secret clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required for government contract.
• Willingness to work remotely.

• Set up RBAC, organizations, teams, inventories and job templates in automation controller.
• Automate security hardening and compliance across RHEL and Windows systems.
• Troubleshoot automation failures and platform issues, and tune performance.
• Document architecture, runbooks and standards, and train customer staff on automation best practices.

Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Consultant
Fully Remote USA

Description

Virtual Service Operations is looking for an experienced Consultant with deep expertise in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to support a DoD customer's enterprise automation work. This is a hands-on technical role. The consultant will design, deploy and operate AAP, and build automation content that cuts down manual work across the customer's infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure and upgrade Ansible Automation Platform (automation controller, private automation hub, Event-Driven Ansible)
• Develop, test and maintain playbooks, roles and collections that automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, patching and compliance
• Build and manage execution environments with ansible-builder, and publish content through private automation hub
  Integrate AAP with source control, CI/CD pipelines, credential and secrets management, and identity providers (LDAP/AD, SAML)
  Set up RBAC, organizations, teams, inventories and job templates in automation controller
• Automate security hardening and compliance (STIG, DISA, SCAP) across RHEL and Windows systems
• Troubleshoot automation failures and platform issues, and tune performance
• Document architecture, runbooks and standards, and train customer staff on automation best practices
  

Skills and Experience

• Ansible Automation Platform: Hands-on experience with AAP 2.x: automation controller, private automation hub, execution environments, and ansible-navigator/ansible-builder
• Automation development: Strong skills writing playbooks, roles and custom collections; Jinja2 templating; YAML; dynamic inventories
• Linux: Advanced RHEL administration (RHEL 8/9)
• Integrations: Git-based workflows (GitLab/GitHub), CI/CD pipelines, and REST API integrations
• Security/compliance: Experience automating STIG remediation and working in secure, disconnected or air-gapped environments
• Scripting: Python and/or Bash
• RH Ansible Automation Platform Certification

Requirements

• 5 - 7 years of professional experience
• Must be willing to work remotely
• Must hold an active Top Secret clearance
• Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. citizenship status
