Compensation: Highly competitive salary + STI Bonus

Our client is hiring an Sr. Automation Integration Engineer to lead the automation of new high-volume production lines, from early product design through launch on the production floor.

Overview

This role takes products that are still being designed, works out how they should be built and tested, and turns that into automated assembly and test cells. You define the cells, set the requirements, and lead outside integrators and machine builders through build, acceptance, and commissioning. You also work with product engineering to change designs where it makes automation simpler and more reliable.

This is an ownership role. You set the direction for the project and the vendors

Lead Responsibilities
  • Assembly process and cell design: layouts, cycle time, capacity, and what to automate versus keep manual
  • Design for manufacturability feedback to product engineering before designs are final
  • Equipment specifications, RFQs, vendor selection, and project cost estimates
  • Integrator and machine builder performance through FAT, SAT, installation, and commissioning
  • Integration of electrical and functional test into automated cells
  • Startup, operator training, documentation, and handoff to operations

Outside integrators and machine builders handle the build. Your time goes to defining the system, making the technical calls, and holding vendors to spec, schedule, and budget.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Hands-on ownership of automated production lines or cells from concept through launch
  • Experience directing automation integrators, machine builders, and equipment vendors
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, industrial robotics, machine vision, servo motion, and industrial networks
  • Strong mechanical and electrical systems integration skills
  • Experience building equipment specs and cost estimates and managing to a project budget
Beneficial, not required
  • Background at a custom automation integrator, machine builder, or robotics company
  • Power electronics, drives, inverters, or complex electromechanical assembly
  • PCBA/SMT manufacturing or automated functional test
  • A four-year degree. Technical school, associate degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience is welcome.
