Job summary

Serac Inc in Carol Stream, IL is seeking a senior automation engineer to lead projects from concept through startup, handling hardware selection and mechatronic integration.

You will develop Rockwell/Allen-Bradley software, structured text, and motion control, manage budgets and timelines, run field trials at customer sites, and mentor both internal and external teams to ensure successful deployments.

Qualifications

• Significant Rockwell from-scratch programming background; Siemens a strong bonus.
• Hands-on troubleshooting across PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, instrumentation and 480VAC.
• Safety standards knowledge - ISO 13849, IEC 60204, NFPA 79, SISTEMA.
• Packaging or industrial machinery OEM experience - machine builds, not plant maintenance.
• 7-10+ years in automation/control systems, or a BSEE.

We're looking for a senior automation engineer to lead projects end to end - hardware selection, mechatronic integration, all the software, then out to the customer site for startup.

What you'll do:

• Lead automation projects from concept and hardware selection through industrialization
• Develop all required software - Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, structured text, motion control
• Manage the project - budgets, timelines, suppliers, documentation, compliance
• Mentor internal and external engineering teams on troubleshooting and technical decisions
• Run field trials, validation and training at customer sites

You're a great fit if you have:
