Job summary

Axis Automation seeks an experienced Senior Automation Controls Engineer to lead the design, programming, and commissioning of custom automation systems for diverse manufacturing customers. You will own projects from concept through customer startup while mentoring fellow engineers and collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in controls/automation with multiple full project lifecycles.
• Strong experience programming PLCs, HMIs, and industrial robots.
• Knowledge of motion control, safety systems, electrical schematics, and system integration.
• Experience supporting projects from concept to startup.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering disciplines.
• Willing to travel 10–20%.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission automation systems using PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and simulation.
• Lead controls engineering across projects from concept to startup.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Build, and PM teams for integration.
• Troubleshoot complex automation challenges and perform root-cause analysis.
• Mentor and review code, promoting engineering best practices.
• Define technical requirements with customers and vendors.
• Improve programming standards and automation technologies.
