Job summary

Vulcan Elements in Durham, NC seeks a Sr. Controls Engineer (FAT/CSV) to lead automation acceptance during a massive 1 million square foot facility expansion.

You will own the automation acceptance thread across a large OEM equipment campaign, author FAT/SAT protocols, manage punch lists, and troubleshoot PLC code from item fixes through commissioning. This high-ownership role requires deep expertise in Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs/HMI, SCADA integration, and robotics, vision, and material

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical/automation engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of direct industrial automation and controls engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience programming and commissioning Siemens and Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs and HMIs.
• Demonstrated multi-vendor acceptance campaign management and disciplined change control.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on programming, debugging, and commissioning of Siemens and Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLCs and HMIs for new and existing equipment.
• Develop, modify, and maintain PLC code structures, HMI screens, safety circuits, and network configurations for standardized performance.
• Run FAT/SAT campaigns, author acceptance protocols, manage punch lists, and coordinate witness assignments.
• Integrate with MES/SCADA and oversee data acquisition, alarms, and transactions.
