Our team seeks motivated solutions developers who excel in listening to customers, teamwork, and proactive leadership. Our mission is to build scalable, robust hardware and software solutions for manufacturing, driving the delivery of Blue Origin rockets and systems. You will design, implement, and deploy innovative systems to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency, simplifying complex problems and sharing knowledge on enterprise architecture and engineering standards.

We need someone with mechanical and controls engineering expertise, leadership, and a dedication to quality to scale and improve automated manufacturing. Passion for our mission is essential!

Responsibilities:

  1. Support initiatives to improve manufacturing reliability and efficiency through automation, including architecture, roadmap, and implementation.
  2. Design and modify electrical systems in industrial control and safety systems.
  3. Develop and modify PLC and robot programs.
  4. Design process control systems (Torque Tools, Machine Vision, etc.).
  5. Create data collection solutions.
  6. Support development of SCADA applications (Ignition, Kepware, AWS, etc.).
  7. Provide production support for manufacturing equipment.
  8. Collaborate with data science and analytics teams to integrate control systems with IoT analytics, developing data-driven enhancements.

Qualifications:

  1. 6+ years experience with automation software development languages (e.g., Ladder, ST, C/C++).
  2. 6+ years experience with controls and automation software environments (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Allen Bradley Control Logix).
  3. 3+ years experience developing software from scratch for automated tooling or equipment.
  4. Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  5. Strong skills in design and process simplification.
  6. Clear and humble communication skills.
  7. Understanding of quality standards, attention to detail, and dedication.
  8. Ability to build trust, maintain positive relationships, and foster inclusion.
  9. Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylum recipient.

Desired:

  1. B.S. or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls, or related engineering fields.
  2. Familiarity with control system and safety standards (IEC 61131, ANSI B11, NFPA 79, RIA 15.06).
  3. Experience with high-level languages like Python or C#.
  4. Experience with NC programming (G-code, TP, Karel).
  5. Excellent technical writing, grammar, and presentation skills.
  6. Experience verifying electrical systems.
  7. Experience with source control for controls code.
  8. Hands-on experience with manufacturing and assembly processes, CNC, metrology, and inspection systems.
