Job summary

PepsiCo is seeking a dedicated Controls Engineer to provide leadership and technical support to plant production and maintenance teams across all controls-related activities within the facility. You will diagnose and resolve control system issues, ensure uptime, and maintain safety and quality standards in a high-speed, regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, automation, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience in industrial controls
  • 5+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems in a manufacturing environment, with GMP experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and modifying Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs and HMIs, with exposure to SCADA platforms such as Wonderware or Ignition
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve equipment and control system issues in a production environment with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with industrial communication networks such as ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, and similar industrial protocols
  • Familiarity with variable frequency drives, motor controls, and associated hardware
  • Familiarity with applicable safety and regulatory standards
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions
  • Ability to execute and support controls-related project work, including planning, coordination, and startup
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of control system issues from initial troubleshooting through implemented resolution

Responsibilities

  • This role provides leadership and technical support to plant production and maintenance teams across all controls-related activities within the facility.
  • The position focuses on diagnosing and resolving control system issues and ensuring consistent operation and system uptime while meeting safety and quality standards, as well as supporting ongoing system performance and improvement in a high-speed, regulated production environment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve control system issues in a production environment to support safe, consistent operation and system uptime
  • Modify and maintain control system programs and associated components to ensure proper system functionality and performance
  • Identify root causes of equipment and control system issues and implement corrective actions to restore and improve system performance
  • Support compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements through proper system design, maintenance, and documentation
  • Coordinate with OEMs, system integrators, and contractors to support installation, troubleshooting, and system improvements
  • Maintain control system documentation, backups, and standards to ensure system integrity and recoverability
  • Execute controls-related work for capital and continuous improvement projects, including implementation and startup support as needed
  • Coach and mentor maintenance and operations personnel in troubleshooting and control systems to build site capability
