Job summary

State Employees' Credit Union is seeking a Senior Repossession Specialist to manage auto repossession cases, ensuring compliant recovery and disposition of collateral. You will liaise with repossession agents and vendors, maintain detailed case documentation, and uphold federal and state regulations.

Ideal candidates have a 5+ year background in financial operations or repossession/collections, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with servicing software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5+ direct years of experience in financial operations, collections, or auto repossession processing, preferably within a consumer lending environment.
• Analytical, detail-oriented and organizational skills with the ability to review complex legal and loan documents.
• Proven ability to manage a high-volume portfolio with strict deadlines.
• Working knowledge of repossession lifecycle, creditors' rights, and compliance requirements including FDCPA, SCRA, Bankruptcy Code, CFPB regulations.
• Proficient computer skills, including MS applications and servicing software; able to track data and reconcile payments.

Responsibilities

• Process, track, and manage a high volume of repossession cases from initiation through asset disposition.
• Adhere to internal policies and external regulations to mitigate risk and ensure compliant actions.
• Calculate, reconcile, and process all repossession-related figures including payoffs and reinstatements/redemptions.
• Serve as the primary daily contact for repossession and remarketing vendors; coordinate recovery logistics.
• Maintain accurate records of all activities, logs, and financial transactions in servicing systems.
• Escalate complex cases or lien/title risks to the Repossession Manager or Legal Dept. as needed.
