Job summary

AFairchild, LLC is seeking a Senior Auditor to lead day-to-day fieldwork on audit and attest engagements while guiding developing professionals and maintaining strong client relationships.

The role focuses on coordinating staff, coaching juniors, and ensuring engagements comply with firm standards. A CPA or progress toward licensure is preferred, with 3–6 years of public accounting experience highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure preferred.
  • Generally 3–6 years of audit experience in public accounting or comparable professional services.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, audit methodology, workpaper standards and professional standards.
  • Experience with closely held businesses, nonprofits, governmental entities, churches, employee benefit plans or similar clients is helpful.
  • Microsoft Office and audit software proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned audit, review, compilation and other attest engagement areas through completion.
  • Supervise staff and interns during fieldwork.
  • Perform and document complex audit procedures.
  • Prepare and review workpapers for completeness, accuracy and manager review.

Position Summary
Lead the Work. Help Develop the Team.

The Senior Auditor leads day-to-day fieldwork on auditand attest engagements, coordinates assigned staff andhelps ensure engagements are completed efficiently,accurately and in accordance with firm methodology andprofessional standards.

This role serves as a key client contact during fieldwork,translates planning decisions into clear work assignmentsand supports staff and interns through practical coachingand timely feedback.

What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
Engagement Leadership
  • Lead assigned audit, review, compilation and otherattest engagement areas through completion.
  • Supervise staff and interns during fieldwork.
  • Perform and document complex audit procedures.
  • Prepare and review workpapers for completeness,accuracy and manager review.
  • Review financial statements, disclosures andclient deliverables.
  • Identify audit issues, control matters and projectdelays and recommend next steps.
  • Monitor budgets, deadlines and workflow status.
Client Service & Communication
  • Build productive working relationships withclient contacts.
  • Help manage client expectations during fieldwork.
  • Provide status updates and communicate priorityrequests and deliverable timing.
  • Draft professional client correspondence.
  • Assist with PBC requests, sample selections andunresolved audit questions.
Team Leadership
  • Provide on-the-job training to staff and interns.
  • Coach team members on documentation, communication,time management and firm tools.
  • Review staff work and provide practical,constructive feedback.
  • Model accountability by staying organized andcommunicating progress.
  • Help create a positive team environment whereothers can succeed.
Background
