Purpose

The Audit Manager/Senior Audit Manager supports/leads and oversees the internal audit and loan review activities in support of the Audit Department in executing on its global mandate, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives and all audit activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

What You’ll Do

  • Champions/Leads and drives a client focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Acts primarily as Team Participant or Officer in Charge (OIC) for assigned projects, processes, and units or participates as a team member under the direction of the OIC.
  • Ensures Scotiabank standards and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Code of Ethics are maintained in completion of all assignments.
  • Assists in the development and execution of a comprehensive and strategic audit plan, ensuring auditable entities remain within cycle.
  • Supports/Conducts ongoing monitoring activities to stay abreast of changes (business/industry/regulatory), emerging risks, and themes or systemic issues that may impact the risk assessment of the audit universe and the audit plan.
  • Participates in/Leads the execution, planning, and reporting on assigned audit projects.
  • Assists in/Manages and supervises the end-to-end process of the execution of the audit and ensures the nature and extent of testing is appropriate to support the objective, scope, and overall opinion.
  • Ensures audit results are gathered, determines the root cause of the problem and the associated impact and reports accordingly.
  • Ensures audit reports are written to a consistent high standard and are finalized within established department metrics.
  • Supports/Carries out specific projects or investigations of a moderate or high complexity and/or confidential nature.
  • Proactively anticipates client pain points to drive innovative recommendations and ensure organizational agility.
  • Participates in/Leads collaborative efforts across teams, ensuring alignment toward shared objectives and driving collective success.
  • Supports/Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values.
  • Champions/Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team.

What You’ll Bring

  • University/Post secondary degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or equivalent.
  • At least 2+ years (or 5+ years for Senior Audit Manager) of relevant experience in the origination, structuring, adjudication, risk rating or auditing of Non-Investment Grade/Leveraged Finance.
  • Knowledge of Structured Finance (Securitizations, CLOs), Syndications, Counterparty Credit Risk a plus.
  • Highly proficient at applying risk-based auditing standards, practices, techniques, processes and methodologies to performance and review of audits.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in the use of data analytic or visualization tools.
