SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Senior AV Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting audiovisual systems in various settings, including corporate, educational, and event venues. This role demands extensive AV technology knowledge, system integration skills, client interaction, project leadership, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring installations meet industry standards.

AV TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Install, configure, and test AV equipment such as projectors, displays, sound systems, control systems, and video conferencing solutions.
2. Set up and calibrate AV systems for optimal performance.
3. Run and terminate cables, including HDMI, Cat6, and fiber optics.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

1. Diagnose and resolve issues like signal problems, connectivity, and equipment failures.
2. Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure reliability.
3. Provide technical support during events and meetings.

Lead Projects:

1. Lead AV installation projects with technicians and assistants.
2. Coordinate with site managers and team members to meet deadlines and quality standards.
3. Document project progress, configurations, wiring diagrams, and installation notes daily.

Client Interaction & Training:

1. Serve as the primary on-site contact during installation and support phases.
2. Provide training on AV system operation (training provided by Presales upon request).
3. Mentor and guide associate technicians on best practices and troubleshooting.
4. Assist in developing standard procedures for AV installations and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or a degree preferred.
2. At least 10 years of experience in commercial AV installation, integration, and troubleshooting.
3. Extensive experience with AV control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron) and signal flow.

Technical Skills:

1. Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting AV equipment and systems.
2. Strong networking knowledge, including VLANs, IP addressing, and AV over IP.
3. Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, manuals, and schematics.

Soft Skills:

1. Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
2. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
3. Ability to work independently and in teams, with attention to detail.
4. Effective project management and prioritization skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Lift and carry equipment up to an appropriate weight (e.g., 50 lbs).
• Work at heights on ladders or scaffolding.
• Willingness to travel to various sites as needed.

CERTIFICATIONS:

• CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or similar certification preferred.
• Manufacturer certifications (Crestron, Extron, Dante) are a plus.
