Job summary

The Florida Department of Health seeks a Senior Attorney to provide legal counsel on administrative, statutory, and regulatory matters. You will draft and review rules, opinions, and analyses, advising agency staff on complex legal issues while ensuring compliance with state and federal law.

Responsibilities include guiding rulemaking for assigned programs and supporting the practice group with legislative interpretations, policy analysis, and litigation-ready legal opinions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and the rulemaking process.
• Ability to interpret civil and administrative proceedings and procedures.
• Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
• Membership in the Florida Bar is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide statutory and regulatory interpretations and guidance to agency programs.
• Prepare programmatic legislative analyses and legal reviews.
• Prepare written legal opinions interpreting federal and state law, rules, and case law.
• Advise staff on complex legal issues and assess policy implications.
• Oversee agency rulemaking for assigned programs and draft administrative rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Practice Group Leader or General Counsel.
