Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) in Chicago seeks a Senior Business Operations Specialist to manage districtwide athletic program finances and operations, reporting to the Director of Business Operations within OCCS.

The role covers budget management, payroll coordination, procurement, contracts, and performance dashboards, collaborating across Finance, Budget, Talent, and school leaders to ensure compliant, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in budget management and business operations.
• Experience coordinating strategic projects in a large organization.
• Experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., Oracle).
• Experience in the education sector is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers and supports business operations and initiatives across departmental functions.
• Develops, monitors, and reconciles departmental budgets; analyzes expenditures and reports finances.
• Coordinates recruitment, onboarding, payroll coordination, and staff readiness.
• Ensures timely stipend payments and payroll processing.
• Oversees procurement activities, vendor relationships, and contract processes.
• Collaborates to develop dashboards, metrics, and reports for decision support.
• Establishes standard operating procedures and internal controls.
• Serves as liaison between departments, school leaders, and external stakeholders.
• Other duties as assigned.
