Job summary

Wiss in Florham Park, NJ is seeking an experienced Senior Assurance Associate to join our growing Assurance Practice. You will work closely with real estate clients, executing audits from planning through completion and developing strong technical and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
• 3-4+ years of progressive public accounting experience.
• Real estate audit experience strongly preferred.
• CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and GAAS.
• Experience preparing and/or reviewing financial statements and audit workpapers.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality client service.

Responsibilities

• Execute audit and assurance engagements for real estate clients from planning through completion.
• Prepare and review audit workpapers, financial statements, and disclosures per GAAP/GAAS.
• Perform audit procedures including testing of cash, investments, fixed assets, debt, revenue, and expenses.
• Gain exposure to real estate accounting matters, including property-level financials and partnerships.
• Evaluate internal controls and identify risks or areas for improvement.
• Communicate with clients to obtain information and support engagement completion.
• Assist with planning and coordinating engagement activities to meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Review work prepared by Associates and provide guidance to junior staff.
• Develop strong client relationships across diverse real estate businesses.
• Identify and communicate accounting or audit issues to engagement leadership.

Wiss is seeking an experienced Senior Assurance Associate to join our growing Assurance Practice in Florham Park, NJ. This position will work closely with clients across the real estate industry, taking a key role in executing audit and assurance engagements while developing strong technical, client service, and leadership skills.

Core Responsibilities:

• Execute audit and assurance engagements for real estate clients from planning through completion.
• Prepare and review audit workpapers, financial statements, and disclosures in accordance with GAAP and GAAS.
• Perform audit procedures including testing of cash, investments, fixed assets, debt, revenue, expenses, and other significant accounts.
• Gain exposure to real estate-specific accounting matters, including property-level financials, acquisitions and dispositions, and partnership structures.
• Evaluate internal controls and identify potential risks or areas for improvement.
• Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, resolve questions, and support the completion of engagements.
• Assist with planning and coordinating engagement activities to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Review work prepared by Associates and provide guidance and feedback as needed.
• Develop strong client relationships while gaining exposure to a variety of real estate businesses.
• Identify and communicate accounting or audit issues to engagement leadership.
