This individual will support the evaluation, financing, and execution of investments across the waste management, recycling, resource recovery, and environmental infrastructure sectors. The role will own complex financial models, support project and corporate financing, prepare materials for banks and investors, and manage due diligence processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional with 4-5 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, infrastructure investing, or corporate finance, ideally with exposure to waste management, recycling, environmental services, infrastructure, or other asset-intensive industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain project and corporate financial models supporting investments across waste management, recycling, resource recovery, and environmental infrastructure.
- Analyze project economics across collection, transfer, recycling, organics, landfill, waste-to-energy, and related assets and services.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses around volumes, pricing, commodity prices, operating costs, capital expenditures, and project timelines.
- Evaluate acquisitions, growth opportunities, strategic partnerships, and development projects through valuation and financial analysis.
- Analyze operating and financial performance to identify key value drivers, risks, and opportunities.
Transaction Support & External Engagement
- Prepare investment memos, presentations, financing packages, and other materials for lenders, investors, and counterparties.
- Support acquisition and financing processes from evaluation through closing.
- Manage due diligence processes, including data rooms, diligence requests, financial analysis, and investor tracking.
- Coordinate with lenders, investors, advisors, legal counsel, and other transaction counterparties.
- Analyze customer contracts, waste supply agreements, disposal arrangements, and recycling offtake agreements.
- Partner with development, operations, engineering, and commercial teams to evaluate project performance and financial implications.
- Develop an understanding of key operating drivers, including waste volumes, throughput, tipping fees, recovery rates, commodity pricing, labor, fuel, and maintenance costs.
- Translate operational performance into financial forecasts and investment returns.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and senior management decision-making.
Special Projects
- Lead analyses supporting project development, acquisitions, portfolio optimization, and corporate strategy.
- Evaluate opportunities to expand or improve waste collection, recycling, transfer, disposal, and resource recovery infrastructure.
- Support analysis of market dynamics, competitive positioning, regulatory considerations, and emerging technologies.
- Drive improvements across financial modeling, reporting, data management, and investment processes.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or related field; advanced degree or CFA a plus.
- 4-5 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, infrastructure investing, corporate finance, or a similar analytical role.
- Exposure to waste management, recycling, environmental services, infrastructure, energy, industrials, or other asset-intensive sectors preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; transaction and data room experience a plus.
- Ability to translate complex operational and financial data into clear investment conclusions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort working with senior executives and external stakeholders.
