Job summary

Burns & Wilcox seeks a Senior Associate Underwriter in Minneapolis to underwrite and supervise part of an Underwriter’s portfolio, driving renewal and new business development. The role supports quote preparation, pricing, and agency engagement while mentoring junior staff.

This position offers growth toward underwriting authority within a leading wholesale broker. The candidate should bring a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of underwriting support, with strong sales, organization, and travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of commercial underwriting support or industry experience.
• Strong sales and marketing skills; proven organization skills and attention to detail.
• Interest in continued education to obtain full underwriting authority.
• Travel when necessary to foster strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and supervise a portion of an Underwriter’s book of business, focused on renewals and new business.
• Evaluate, classify, and rate each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing to prepare quotes.
• Assist Underwriters to develop and execute marketing plans to drive new and renewal business, including in-person agency visits, telemarketing and distributing marketing materials.
• Mentor and train Associate Underwriters as needed.
