Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA license or CPA eligibility strongly preferred.
  • 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience, mix of public and outsourced accounting.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP; IFRS a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform outsourced accounting functions for clients, including reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare financial statements in US GAAP (and IFRS as applicable).

Senior Associate, Office of the CFO (Technical Accounting)

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Associate on our Office of the CFO team, you’ll work with clients across a range of industries to tackle complex accounting and financial reporting challenges. You’ll provide outsourced accounting support, prepare financial statements and reconciliations, and deliver technical guidance on key topics such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, and equity transactions. This role offers the opportunity to apply your accounting expertise in a dynamic advisory environment, work directly with experienced leaders, and continue growing your career through meaningful client interaction and hands‑on experience.

Client Engagement & Technical Delivery
  • Perform outsourced accounting functions for clients, including:
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations
  • General ledger maintenance
  • Preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP (and IFRS as applicable)
  • Prepare and assist with non-SEC financial statements and internal management reports.
  • Assist with SEC reporting (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, etc.) for public clients, as applicable.
  • Draft and review technical accounting memos addressing complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, equity transactions, business combinations, and other areas.
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and policies.
  • Support audit processes by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to automation initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Serve as a key liaison for client engagements, coordinating directly with client accounting teams and internal managers.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledge‑sharing culture.
  • Work cross‑functionally with colleagues across Assurance Advisory, Management Consulting, and Transaction Services.
  • Engage with leadership in the Westchester, NY office, and other advisory hubs as part of the growing AAS operating team.
Continuous Improvement & Professional Growth
  • Stay current on evolving accounting standards, technical guidance, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in training, mentorship, and professional development programs.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the AAS practice through innovation and operational excellence.
Who You Are
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA license or CPA eligibility strongly preferred.
  • 3-6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a mix of public accounting and industry or outsourced accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements; IFRS experience a plus.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, performing reconciliations, and drafting technical accounting memos.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment.
Required Technical Skills
  • Documentation Tools: Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for memo and report preparation.
  • Collaboration Tools: Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and project management platforms (e.g., Asana, Monday.com).
  • Excel: Advanced proficiency including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
  • Accounting Software: QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Xero, or similar platforms.
  • ERP Systems: Experience with ERP implementations or integrations is a plus.
Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to private equity-backed or high‑growth companies.
  • Experience supporting IPO readiness, M&A transactions, or carve‑outs.
  • Background in advisory, consulting, or client service roles.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

Estimated Base Range: $75,000-$115,000

  • Base compensation offered to candidates are determined based on factors such as candidate's relevant skillset, experience, licensure, and certifications, as well as job responsibilities, geography, market considerations, and organizational needs.
