The Firm

A New Era of AI-Driven, Multidimensional Consulting

Today’s businesses face complex global challenges that demand more than conventional consulting services. Andersen Consulting offers a seamless, multidimensional approach that combines expertise in business transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, sustainability, and digital strategy with Andersen Global’s established tax and legal capabilities. This integration of emerging technologies positions Andersen Consulting as the partner of choice in the $1 trillion consulting industry.

The Role

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to build the data pipelines that power modern applications and insights platforms. Data engineers at Andersen Consulting interact with client technical teams, internal engagement leaders, and internal product managers to understand client data landscapes. Their core responsibility is design, develop, and maintain SQL databases and data pipelines. This is an individual contributor role which does not require people management.

You’ll work within the new Andersen Consulting Global AI & Data practice which is accountable for delivering value to clients through data management, data platforms and AI. The team does this by using modern techniques, tooling, and behaviors to deliver value as quickly as possible.

Responsibilities

We understand that narrow and well-defined job responsibilities are good for some people. If you are one of those people, this role may not be right for you. We expect you to:

  • Come ready to do the best work of your life and influence your team to do the same
  • Write efficient, complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data, monitor and optimize database performance.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Assist in data migration and integration projects.
  • Document database structures, procedures, and processes.
  • Work directly with client technical teams to explore source data and help define required transformations
  • Set the standard for disciplined data engineering (e.g. automated testing, continuous integration and deployment, code reviews and writing high quality, well documented code)
  • Effectively communicate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects and other stakeholders to thoroughly understand requirements and translate into development activities
  • Collaborate with others in the Global AI & Data practice to further knowledge of data management, data pipelining and other relevant technologies

Compensation And Benefits

Our firm offers competitive base compensation, benefits package, and a discretionary employee bonus program for eligible employees based on individual and firm performance metrics per the defined program guidelines. For individuals hired to work in Chicago, the expected salary range for this role is $111,250 to $187,000; the actual salary offer can vary based upon employee qualifications.

Benefits: Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our firm’s 401(k) plan upon hire. We offer paid time off, beginning at 160 hours annually and provides twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year. For a full listing of benefit offerings, please visit https://www.andersen.com/careers/faqs.

Compensation: In addition to competitive base compensation, our firm offers annual discretionary bonuses based on firm and individual performance and other forms of discretionary compensation that would be offered to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range scale.

The Requirements

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A technical background in computer science, information technology, data management or related fields
  • A compelling track record of designing and deploying large scale data engineering solutions, which deliver tangible, ongoing value (and ability to show work)
  • Professional experience working with relational and non-relational database technologies with expert level knowledge of SQL
  • Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts and familiarity with ETL processes and tools

It Would Also Be Beneficial If You Have

  • Professional experience with cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Ability to context-switch, to provide support to dispersed teams which may need an “expert hacker” to unblock an especially challenging technical obstacle
  • An ‘engineering’ mindset, willing to make rapid, pragmatic decisions to improve performance, accelerate progress or magnify impact; recognizing that the ‘good’ is not the enemy of the ‘perfect’

We’re looking for a passionate, team oriented, experienced engineer who’s self-motivated and loves technology. We expect you to do the best work of your life and influence those around you to do the same. We value humility and intellectual honesty in our engineers.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire. Andersen will not consider candidates for this position who require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., H-1B status).

Andersen Tax welcomes and encourages workforce diversity. We are an equal opportunity employer. Applicants and employees are considered for positions and are evaluated without regard to race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sexual orientation (including gender identity and gender expression), mental disability, physical disability, sex/gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions), age, marital status, military status, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws or regulations. All qualified individuals, including those with criminal histories, will be considered in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local laws. Additionally, we make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.
