A law firm seeks an accomplished Senior Associate or Special Counsel specializing in litigation and regulatory enforcement in the areas of privacy and data security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex privacy-related cases, regulatory investigations, and class actions. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile matters within a growing practice that tackles cutting-edge legal issues in cybersecurity and data privacy. Applicants should be prepared to lead key projects, interact with clients, and provide strategic legal counsel on sensitive matters.

Duties:

  1. Litigation & Regulatory Enforcement:
    • Represent clients in privacy and data security-related disputes, including class actions and regulatory investigations.
    • Manage cases involving data breaches, consumer protection issues, and unfair trade practices.
    • Defend clients against claims under federal and state laws, including the Stored Communications Act and wiretapping claims.
  2. Client Engagement & Project Leadership:
    • Lead and coordinate complex projects while maintaining direct communication with clients.
    • Provide strategic guidance on privacy and cybersecurity issues across various industries.
  3. Legal Research & Analysis:
    • Conduct detailed research to support litigation, regulatory filings, and advisory work.
    • Keep clients informed on evolving privacy regulations and emerging risks in data security.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work alongside other attorneys across multiple disciplines to support cybersecurity, intellectual property, and regulatory matters.
    • Collaborate with internal teams on integrated legal solutions for clients.

Requirements:

  1. A minimum of 7 years of experience focused on privacy and data security law, with expertise in litigation and/or regulatory enforcement.
  2. Strong experience defending privacy class actions, including those related to data breaches and unfair trade practices.
  3. Knowledge of consumer protection laws and regulations, including issues like wiretapping and the Stored Communications Act.
  4. Proven ability to lead complex legal projects, manage clients, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  5. Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with a strong attention to detail and clarity in legal documentation.
  6. Tech-savvy, with a solid understanding of the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and data privacy law.

Education:

  1. J.D. from an accredited law school.
