A law firm seeks an accomplished Senior Associate or Special Counsel specializing in litigation and regulatory enforcement in the areas of privacy and data security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex privacy-related cases, regulatory investigations, and class actions. Duties:
- Litigation & Regulatory Enforcement:
- Represent clients in privacy and data security-related disputes, including class actions and regulatory investigations.
- Manage cases involving data breaches, consumer protection issues, and unfair trade practices.
- Defend clients against claims under federal and state laws, including the Stored Communications Act and wiretapping claims.
- Client Engagement & Project Leadership:
- Lead and coordinate complex projects while maintaining direct communication with clients.
- Provide strategic guidance on privacy and cybersecurity issues across various industries.
- Legal Research & Analysis:
- Conduct detailed research to support litigation, regulatory filings, and advisory work.
- Keep clients informed on evolving privacy regulations and emerging risks in data security.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work alongside other attorneys across multiple disciplines to support cybersecurity, intellectual property, and regulatory matters.
- Collaborate with internal teams on integrated legal solutions for clients.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience focused on privacy and data security law, with expertise in litigation and/or regulatory enforcement.
- Strong experience defending privacy class actions, including those related to data breaches and unfair trade practices.
- Knowledge of consumer protection laws and regulations, including issues like wiretapping and the Stored Communications Act.
- Proven ability to lead complex legal projects, manage clients, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with a strong attention to detail and clarity in legal documentation.
- Tech-savvy, with a solid understanding of the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and data privacy law.
Education:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Current and active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
