Job summary

R&D Partners in San Carlos, CA, is seeking a lab-based scientist for our Drug Product Development team. The candidate will analyze biomolecules, immunoassays, and vaccine formats, while supporting multiple projects with rigorous record-keeping.

The role requires a BS with 8+ years or MS with 5+ years in Chemistry/Biochemistry, 2+ years in analytical development or QC, and experience with colorimetric assays, SEC-MALS, and SDS-PAGE. This 12-month contract offers a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Execute routine and non-routine analysis of samples using diverse analytical techniques across Drug Product groups.
  • Support multiplex immunoassay development and lifecycle management.
  • Design and interpret experiments for stability studies of drug substances and adjuvanted vaccines.
  • Analyze complex data, identify trends, and communicate findings to teams.
  • Contribute to method development, qualification, and technology transfer with external labs and CMOs.
  • Author and review protocols, SOPs, reports, and study plans.
  • Collaborate across Drug Product Development, Formulation, Analytical Development, Quality, and external partners.

Job description

We are hiring talented individual to join our client's Drug Product Development team. The candidate must have knowledge of and practical experience in analyzing and characterizing biomolecules (proteins, polysaccharide conjugates, vaccines) using a variety of methods, especially immunoassays and multiplexed immunoassay formats. Experience in analyzing vaccine and adjuvant-containing formulations is a plus. In addition, we are looking for an experienced and flexible individual who would be comfortable working on multiple projects at once, with fluid prioritization to enable aggressive timelines. This position is for a lab-based scientific role and requires excellent scientific judgement, independence, rigor, and thorough record-keeping.

This is a 12-month contract based in San Carlos, California.

Responsibilities
  • Execute routine and non-routine analysis of internal release, development, and stability samples using a variety of analytical techniques across Drug Product working groups, ensuring high-quality data generation and reporting.
  • Support the execution, optimization, and continuous improvement of multiplex immunoassay (MSD) assay suite, including troubleshooting assay performance, improving robustness, and supporting assay lifecycle management.
  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments to support non-GxP stability studies including thermal, freeze/thaw, agitation, and container closure system evaluations for both Drug Substance and adjuvanted vaccine Drug Product materials.
  • Analyze and interpret complex assay data, identify trends or deviations, and communicate findings to project teams to support development decisions.
  • Contribute to method development, qualification, and technology transfer activities, including collaboration with external analytical laboratories and manufacturing CMOs.
  • Author and review technical documentation including assay protocols, SOPs, reports, study plans, and technical summaries in support of development and analytical activities.
  • Support programs through cross-functional collaboration with Drug Product Development, Formulation, Analytical Development, Quality, and external partners.
Qualifications
  • BS degree with minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience or MS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an analytical development or quality control role.
  • Prior experience running colorimetric assays is required.
  • Prior experience with SEC-MALS is required.
  • Prior experience with SDS-PAGE is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
