The role involves acting as bond counsel or underwriters’ counsel, structuring and negotiating financing documents, advising clients on Florida public finance laws, and managing transactions from due diligence through closing.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in public finance and municipal bond transactions.
• Experience representing CDDs, local governments, developers, underwriters, financial institutions in financing.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as bond counsel or underwriters’ counsel in tax-exempt or taxable municipal bond financings.
• Structure and negotiate bond financing documents and advise on Florida public finance laws.
• Oversee all aspects of bond transactions from due diligence through closing.
• Experience with CDD formation, land development, infrastructure finance and PPPs is strongly preferred.

Position Description

Shutts & Bowen's Orlando office is seeking a senior associate/partner to join their Real Estate Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in public finance, municipal bond transactions, and Community Development District (CDD) matters, with experience representing CDDs, local governments, developers, underwriters, financial institutions, and other participants in public infrastructure financing. The successful applicant should have experience serving as a bond counsel or underwriters’ counsel in tax-exempt or taxable municipal bond financings; structuring and managing bond financing transactions; drafting and negotiating bond financing documents; advising clients on Florida public finance laws; tax-exempt financing, and regulatory compliance; and handling all aspects of bond transactions from due diligence through closing. Experience with CDD formation, and administration, land development, infrastructure finance, special districts, and public-private partnership projects is strongly preferred.

Candidate must be a member of the Florida Bar and possess excellent drafting, negotiation, project management, analytical, and communication skills.
