Our client is a Los Angeles based private equity firm that invests in technology, business services, and industrial companies. The firm partners with owners, founders, and management teams to maximize value and drive long-term, sustainable growth for its portfolio companies.

Senior Associate

Position Summary

We are seeking a mid-level finance professional to join our Operations team and play a critical role in both investment execution and portfolio company transformation. This individual will be responsible for financial due diligence in support of new investments and will work closely with senior members of our Operations team and senior portfolio company executives to improve finance and accounting functions at portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial due diligence on potential acquisitions, analyzing historical performance, quality of earnings, working capital trends, and key financial drivers.
  • Assist in reviewing financial models, identifying risks and opportunities that impact valuation and investment decisions.
  • Work with third-party advisors (accounting firms, consultants) to assess financial reporting, internal controls, and audit findings.
  • Collaborate with investment professionals to develop post-close financial strategies for portfolio companies.

Portfolio Company Support – Finance & Accounting Transformation

  • Partner with portfolio company CFOs and finance teams to implement best-in-class financial reporting, accounting, and control processes.
  • Drive efficiency improvements in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Support ERP system implementations, accounting process standardization, and working capital management initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluating and hiring key finance & accounting personnel at portfolio companies.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and investor reporting requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in transaction services (financial due diligence) and audit, ideally at a Big 4 or top-tier accounting firm.
  • CPA and/or advanced degree in accounting or business (MBA) highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, GAAP, and corporate finance.
  • Experience working with private equity, M&A transactions, or corporate finance teams is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience improving finance and accounting processes in an operational setting is preferred.
  • Excellent financial modeling and data analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and project management abilities.
  • Self-starter with an ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
