Job summary

Advance CTE is seeking a Senior Associate, Membership to strengthen member engagement across the organization. You will serve as a resource connector, respond to inquiries, and translate research into practical materials for State CTE leaders.

You will collaborate across teams to develop learning opportunities, support onboarding of new directors, and help manage member platforms and convenings, ensuring a positive and inclusive member experience.

  • Coordinate membership audits and dues renewals, supporting a positive member experience.
  • Oversee the member platform and resource hub to keep content relevant.
  • Assist with planning Fall and Spring Convenings and sponsor deliverables.

Job description

Position Title: Senior Associate, Membership.

Salary range: $68,000-$82,500

Primary Responsibilities
  • Strengthen member value and engagement by developing, maintaining and deepening relationships with Advance CTE members while serving as a support, resource and connector.
  • Respond to member inquiries and research requests, synthesizing information and connecting members with timely, relevant resources and supports.
  • Partner with staff across the organization to develop member-facing content that distills Advance CTE research, resources, policy and emerging trends into actionable information for State CTE leaders.
  • Build member capacity by coordinating and continuously improving in-person and virtual professional learning opportunities aligned with Advance CTE's strategic priorities.
  • Represent Advance CTE by attending and supporting conferences, convenings and meetings while cultivating strong relationships with members, sponsors and partners.
  • Support the onboarding and success of new State CTE Directors by leading the “Get to Know” blog series and contributing to New State Director Institute activities.
  • Advance strategic member engagement initiatives by analyzing event feedback, supporting state engagement tracking, contributing to outreach efforts for and supporting initiatives that strengthen member engagement and belonging.
  • Support membership operations by coordinating membership audits and annual dues renewal processes while contributing to a positive member experience.
  • Coordinate the creation and continuous enhancement of Advance CTE's member platform and resource hub, ensuring content is timely, relevant and aligned with member needs, strengthens the organization's member value proposition, and advances member engagement.
  • Support the planning and execution of Advance CTE's Fall and Spring Convenings by coordinating project timelines, tracking sponsor deliverables, managing assigned workstreams, supporting agenda development, and partnering across teams to deliver a high-quality experience for approximately 300 attendees.
Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of people, including but not limited to, Board members, staff, government officials, State CTE Directors, key stakeholders, community partners
  • Comfortable with technology: association platform, scheduling tools, virtual learning management.
  • Ability to organize knowledge and track project progress and deliverables
  • Ability to work independently, accurately and meet deadlines and simultaneously manage multiple projects/tasks
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, including racial equity, and a willingness to continually deepen knowledge and practice.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including skilled written report preparation for research, policy and lay audiences, and public speaking with a style appropriate to the audience
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Knowledgeable of standard office equipment, as well as proficient with computer software programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Hold a valid driver’s license within the commuting areas, have access to a reliable car with current insurance or access to a reliable/flexible transportation source

The Senior Membership Associate will work under the direction of the Director of Member Engagement & Professional Learning

Location

Advance CTE’s office is located in the Washington, D.C. metro area (Silver Spring, MD). This position can be either an in-office position or a fully remote position filled by an employee located outside of the Washington, D.C. area. Advance CTE does not have a legal or organizational presence in the following states/territories: Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, any of the U.S. territories and therefore is not open to accepting applications from individuals who reside in any of these locations and are not willing to relocate. If willing to relocate, please indicate in your cover letter.

Travel Required

Up to 10% of the employee’s time may be spent on non-local travel to carry out the duties of the position, including participation in two in-person “home weeks” and two in-person annual conferences per year.
