Job summary

Chartwell Law seeks a Senior Associate attorney to handle complex litigation across General Liability, Commercial Litigation, Construction Defect, Transportation/Trucking, Labor/Employment, and Professional Liability.

From inception to resolution, you will manage cases, perform extensive research, draft briefs, and advocate in court, arbitrations, and depositions, with a 1,950-hour annual billable requirement and opportunities to travel.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of Civil Litigation experience with emphasis in insurance defense and general liability.
• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admitted to practice in this state; other states a plus.
• Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage and work in a team environment.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent client skills and telephone manner.
• Experience participating in negotiations and mediations.
• Courtroom experience and a desire to grow as a trial/litigation attorney.

Responsibilities

• Defending and advocating for clients in General Liability, Commercial Litigation, Construction Defect, Transportation/Trucking, Labor/Employment Litigation, and Professional Liability
• File review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action
• Extensive legal research and drafting of substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs
• Regularly representing clients in court, at arbitrations and in depositions
• Drafting and responding to discovery requests
• Expert witness retention and collaboration
• Trial preparation and attendance, some travel may be required
• Manage deadlines and assignments with a high level of ownership and independence
• Annual billable amount of 1950 hours required
