Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in Westmont, IL seeks a Senior Associate I in its Property Accounting team to deliver timely financial reporting for a portfolio of 4–6 properties. You will prepare monthly and quarterly statements, manage audits, and oversee key accounting functions that influence client decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, with real estate accounting experience.
  • Experience with MRI or Yardi or similar CMMS platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; able to analyze data and generate reports.
  • Multitask effectively and meet client deadlines under pressure.
  • Client-focused with ability to build relationships and trust across stakeholders.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills; able to establish actions and evaluate results.
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and risk with sound decision making.

What this job involves:

As a Senior Associate I in our Property Accounting team at JLL, you'll serve as a trusted financial partner responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting for a portfolio of 4 to 6 commercial properties. This role combines technical accounting expertise with client relationship management, where you'll prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, coordinate audit processes, and oversee critical accounting functions that directly impact our clients' investment decisions. You'll work collaboratively with property management teams locally and across the organization, serving as their go-to resource for accounting procedures and client inquiries. What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly financial statements, journal entries, and bank reconciliations for your assigned property portfolio within established client deadlines
  • Coordinate the accounts payable process by reviewing invoice coding, verifying approvals, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and client requirements
  • Serve as the primary accounting resource for on-site property teams, responding to procedural questions and resolving accounting issues efficiently
  • Oversee cash management activities including loan servicing, disbursement processing, and external reporting to maintain accurate financial records
  • Manage internal and external audit processes by coordinating with various departments, gathering required documentation, and ensuring timely completion
  • Support annual budget preparation by compiling key assumptions, reviewing capital budget information, and ensuring accurate data entry into accounting systems
  • Execute year-end reconciliation processes, calculate adjustments, and ensure all billing occurs timely and correctly per lease requirements
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, with real estate accounting experience
  • Experience with real estate accounting software such as MRI or Yardi (or similar CMMS platforms)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyze data, create financial models, and generate reports
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, work successfully under pressure, and effectively prioritize workload to meet client deadlines
  • Client-focused mindset with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships, gaining trust and respect from internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to establish a course of action, accomplish goals, and evaluate results
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity, including the ability to make decisions without complete information and handle risk and uncertainty effectively
Preferred qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access for database management and reporting
  • Track record of exceeding goals and driving results in deadline-driven environments
  • Previous experience preparing financial statements for commercial real estate properties

M-F 8am-5pm

Expected compensation for this position: 74,000.00 – 87,000.00 USD per year

Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
