Job summary

Performance Food Group is seeking an experienced Director, Sr Associate General Counsel to lead employment-related and commercial litigation, advise HR and senior leaders, and guide strategic labor and non-compete matters across the organization.

You will interact with executives, oversee outside counsel, and drive compliance initiatives while supporting PFG’s nationwide distribution network.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate / JD from Tier 1 law school.
• Active, licensed member in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 5–10 years in a large law firm with employer-side litigation experience and/or in-house litigation management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent legal judgment and strong client-service focus.
• Experience working in a matrixed, decentralized, and dynamic environment.
• Proven ability to work with senior management and top-level executives.
• Strong, pragmatic business acumen with the ability to communicate the business impact of legal advice.
• Strong project management skills and a hands-on, detail-oriented work ethic.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Manages single-plaintiff employment litigation from inception to resolution, attorney selection, cost assessment, and mediation.
• Provides counseling and training to HR and business leaders on employment law areas (Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, FMLA, NLRA, WARN, EPA).
• Assists in workplace investigations.
• Collaborates with HR and operating leaders to provide practical legal guidance and efficient issue resolution.
• Drafts/responds to non-compete letters and related litigation.
• Oversees and assists with labor matters (CBA negotiations, union campaigns, grievances, ULPs).
• Reviews company practices for legal risk with operating teams.
