Seeking a driven, confident health lawyer to be in-house counsel at a large and growing health care company. The position will serve as lead counsel for naviHealth and Senior Community Care (ISNP business) within Optum Health's Home & Community Care Solutions business. Home & Community Care Solutions is a large, dynamic and growing group of businesses providing care, care coordination and related services principally to members of Medicare Advantage plans in both home and post-acute settings.
The position requires solid knowledge of state and federal health laws, including Medicare Advantage, provider, network, financial and clinical issues. Position will involve working directly with business clients of the organization, collaborating with colleagues across the enterprise, and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team of attorneys and support staff, will possess solid verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and business instincts. The ability to operate in a matrixed environment will be an important quality for the successful candidate. Prior law firm and in-house experience are desired.

Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic partner to the businesses supported giving sound and practical legal advice
Advise on all legal issues related to the businesses, including post-acute utilization management requirements and Medicare Marketing guidelines, among others
Understand the businesses supported and the existing and emerging regulatory framework
Interacting with federal and state regulators
Ability to build solid relationships with business leaders, matrix partners and legal and compliance colleagues
Finding solutions to complicated health care regulatory issues
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
Solid oral and written communication skills
Developing best practices for addressing emerging legal and business risks

Required Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate degree
10+ years of experience practicing in the health care industry
Health Care regulatory experience
Knowledge of state and federal health care, insurance, privacy and related laws
Proven ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates and external company contacts
Proven track record demonstrating the ability to independently make decisions regarding complex legal and corporate issues
Preferred Qualification:
Experience representing health care providers and/or Medicare Advantage health plans

The salary range for this role is $150,200 to $288,500 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
