Job summary

AES Corporation in the United States is seeking an FP&A Analyst to support forecasting, budgeting, and investment analysis across strategic business units. You will consolidate regional inputs, build robust financial models, and deliver executive level insights.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in FP&A, strong Excel skills, GAAP knowledge, and experience with PowerBI, Anaplan, or similar tools. You will collaborate across functions to drive accurate reporting and strategic decisions.

  • Experience with complex Excel models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Forecasting & budgeting: coordinate with SBUs for monthly and yearly corporate reporting.
  • Prepare annual budget and monthly forecast; analyze regional reports.
  • Investment Analysis: build models for opportunities including NPV/IRR/ROE.
  • Create executive level reports and business cases; present sensitivities.

They should also possess the following competencies:Exceptional analytical and time management skills.Strong attention to detail, with the ability to understand issues with a “big-picture” business perspective.Clear, concise communicator and good at telling a business story from numbers/dataThe ability to understand the business models of the organization and link to strategyCandidate is comfortable taking initiative and proposing, researching, and socializing solutionsCandidates has high standards and takes pride in their workPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:The FP&A Analyst’s duties will include the following (other duties may be assigned):Forecasting & budgeting:Coordinate with strategic business units (SBUs) to receive timely and accurate inputs, explanations and analysis as needed for monthly and annual Corporate reporting process.Prepare the Company’s annual budget and monthly forecast process by consolidating and analyzing regional reportsDeeply understand main performance drivers.Integrate analysis into monthly reporting processProvide analysis of expected forecast output for purposes of evaluating progress towards overall guidance expectationsInvestigate, explain, and present budget to actual variances to senior leadershipInvestment Analysis:Prepare models for prospective investment opportunities, including business development projects and/or responses to customer requests for proposals.Analyze potential projects, including valuation and modelling to include NPV, IRR, ROE, capital requirements and annual cash and income contributions. This analysis often will require leading cross-functional efforts across AES in high-pressure environments.Provide input for presentations that will be sent to Investment Committee / Executive Leadership for purposes of driving investment and strategic decisions.OtherPrepare executive level reports and presentations of consolidated results and analysisPrepare presentations with business cases and sensitivitiesBe responsible for collaborating across the organization to develop and vet sound business assumptionsContribute to periodic and ad-hoc initiatives of the FP&A departmentBuild relationships with various functional teams within AESRequirement:3+ years’ experience in FP&A or business valuation analysisAbility to work effectively with accounting systemsStrong data analytics & business acumenExperience preparing and reviewing complex models in ExcelStrong verbal and written communication skillsSound analytical, planning, and organizational skillsFluent in EnglishBachelor’s degreePreferred experience:FP&A experience preferredStrong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) including experience with financial reporting, forecasting and analysis across the income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows.Strong understanding of data analytics, and technology including but not limited to dash-boarding, data visualization, automation, AI, etc)Renewable energy experience preferredDesired skills: proficiency in PowerBI, Anaplan, BPC, ThinkCellAES is an Equal Opportunity Employer who is committed to building strength and delivering long-term sustainability through diversity and inclusion. The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus. The benefits offered for this position are: medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave time, and parental leave).
